Project designed in collaboration with Ximena Fossa.
The commission aims to solve the existing security problems in the park and at the same time, respect the lake’s environmental protection plan.
The project tries to give a cultural image to the enclosure without forgetting the environment. Two different fences are proposed for two contexts: an urban fence facing the park and a green fence facing the lake.
The urban fence is an abstraction of the existing vegetation in the area: the reeds. Vertical steel rods are folded in different angles to give a movement effect like a wave. Squared pieces are welded in between the rots to stiffen the fence. The base is hidden under the ground to imitate the reeds.
The other fence combines two types depending on the situation. In some parts combines the existing fence with native bushes behind it. In other parts the sections doubles the current fence leaving a generous space between them where native vegetation can grow up freely. In both types the fence becomes hardly visible, so the visual impact is minimized.
In order to improve the access to the facility, the main entrance is relocated to the east side. A strategic platform is proposed in front of the entrance to cross the water channel that comes from the lake.
